Our Hiring Process

Forging Excellence, One Responder at a Time!

Welcome to the Delta County Ambulance District's hiring process! We believe in building a strong and skilled team to provide exceptional emergency medical services. Our hiring process occurs twice a year, offering opportunities for passionate individuals to join our ranks.

Upon applying, applicants will undergo a thorough two-step interview process. The first day focuses on the interview itself, while the second day is dedicated to testing. This comprehensive testing day includes a Physical Agility Test (PAT), a physical scenario, and a written scenario.

Successful candidates then progress to our Field Training Program, an essential step in shaping the capabilities of our team members. This program is designed with a series of modules, typically spanning up to 90 days, depending on the individual's prior experience. Within this timeframe, participants also engage in a monthly Academy, consisting of four classes per day over three months.

The Academy days cover a range of topics, with two mandatory classes that employees must attend. While encouraged to attend all three Academy days, only two are required during the Training Program. Our commitment is to ensure that every participant emerges from this program with confidence and preparedness.

Completion of the Field Training Program involves the creation of a comprehensive training book. If our Chief, Captains, and Field Training Officers unanimously agree that an employee is ready, they are granted the opportunity to take calls independently. We understand that each individual progresses at their own pace, and extra time is granted to those who need it.

Our ultimate goal is to see every member of our team come out of the program fully confident and prepared to handle the challenges of emergency medical services. Join us at Delta County Ambulance District, where we invest in your success and the well-being of our community.
